Antigen tests are reliable. They must meet the minimum performance requirements of ≥ 90% sensitivity and ≥ 97% specificity established by the WHO and the European Union. In addition, they must have the CE marking on their labeling followed by the 4 digits of the notified body that has evaluated it.
In addition, our antigen tests have a clinical study carried out at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (Can Ruti) and validated by Dr. Oriol Mitjà where the results are shown to be excellent.
Posibles causas de la aparición de un falso negativo podrían ser:
- That the sample collection was not carried out correctly
- That the individual has a viral load so low that it is below the detection threshold of the test
When the viral load is very low, the antigen tests do not detect the virus. It is true that antigen tests lack sufficient sensitivity and allow CONTACTED to escape. However, what we are interested in identifying is those carriers of large viral loads and who, in addition to being CONTACTED, are CONTAGIOUS.
